Virtual Experiences

Lives in Balance

The Ronald Reagan Library is delighted to present to you in partnership with iThrive Games Foundation our new Virtual Simulation Lives in Balance. In this incredibly unique experience, students will use web-based technology to engage in using and interpreting critical documents and concepts as they interact in real-time with each other, face to face (vis-a-vis video conferencing).

This simulation takes inspiration from our site-based simulations while having its own twist to relate to current events. Lives in Balance is designed specifically with distance learning in mind. This scenario thrusts the students into a fictional, modern day pandemic where they will take on the roles of either a state governor or U. S. government official.   A group of 6 students will respond to their own fictional pandemic over the span of 40 minutes. Each student will have to grapple with the decision between the reopening of the economy and the consideration of public health; and the consequences resulting from their decisions.  As this distance learning simulation is cloud based, teachers can run several scenarios at the same time, so all students can participate.

This simulation was recognized by the American Alliance of Museums for their 2021 MUSE Awards. It received the Gold MUSE Award and was described as turning "the 2020 COVID situation into a meaningful learning opportunity in a contemporary, interactive way. By utilizing a live-action role-play-based digital platform they created a unique and empowering civic learning experience for students very relevant for the times."

Leading Through Crisis

The Ronald Reagan Library is delighted to present to you in partnership with iThrive Games Foundation our new Virtual Simulation Leading Through Crisis. In this incredibly unique experience, students will use web-based technology to engage in using and interpreting critical documents and concepts as they interact in real-time with each other, face to face (vis-a-vis video conferencing).

This simulation is a virtual adaptation of our acclaimed Constitutional Crisis simulation. In this simulation, participants form teams and assume the roles of the President’s Cabinet in order to manage a modern constitutional crisis while their colleagues take on the parts of key news media members scrambling to cover the story as it unfolds before them. 6 participants must work together in this high stakes environment to examine a multitude of critical sources and make important decisions about developing events. As this distance learning simulation is cloud based, teachers can run several scenarios at the same time, so all students can participate.

Follow the Facts

The Ronald Reagan Library is delighted to present to you in partnership with iThrive Games Foundation our new Virtual Simulation Follow the Facts. In this incredibly unique experience, students will use web-based technology to engage in using and interpreting critical documents and concepts as they interact in real-time with each other, face to face (vis-a-vis video conferencing).

In this simulation, students will take on the roles of reporters as they determine how best to cover an incoming natural disaster. In groups of 5, your students will have to work together to hunt down leads, find the most reliable sources, and separate fact from falsehood. As this distance learning simulation is cloud based, teachers can run several scenarios at the same time, so all students can participate.
